MISSION STATEMENT
To revolutionize the teaching and learning process through quality professional development.
Promethean's Professional Development Team is devoted to fulfilling this mission statement. Each training is conducted by a certified educational professional who has extensive experience in the K-12 setting. This team is made up of 6 full-time professionals who average over 20 years experience each. In addition, there are over 20 Promethean certified contracted trainers, which enables us to provide quality professional development while addressing the needs of all customers, including large scale implementations.
Our course offerings are designed to meet the training needs of the beginning user to the most advanced user or developer. Our Professional Development staff provides the traditional face-to-face training, as well as online courses. These offerings include:
ONLINE COURSES: PROMETHEAN LEARNING (www.prometheanlearning.com)
Level 1 - Foundation Skills Certificate Offered at No Charge to Teachers
The Level One Foundation Skill Certificate was designed to familiarize teachers with the core features of ActivStudio. This course is available for free to PC users in both ActivStudio and ActivPrimary. During this course, participants learn the basic skills required to create colorful and engaging flipcharts. Promethean awards an ActivStudio Foundation Skills certificate on successful completion of the assessments.
Level 1 - Advanced Skills Certificate
This Advanced Skills course introduces some of the more advanced features of Activstudio version 3. Participants can complete this course at their own pace. Information is provided through interactive tutorials, training flip charts, articles, and exemplar material.
The course is divided into five topics. At the end of each topic there is an assessment to complete. When the assessments have been completed successfully, participants are required to upload a flip chart which fulfills the criteria, as outlined in the course. At the end of the course there is a 'bonus' tutorial covering Activote.
A single user fee for this course is $50. Volume discounts are also available.
Level 2 - Curriculum Developer Certificate
A Promethean expert with extensive teaching experience guides this six week course. Each week teachers work through a set of activities and resources, either individually or in small groups. The course encourages collaboration in which experiences, expertise and resources are shared.
By successfully completing this course teachers are awarded an ActivStudio Curriculum Developer certificate. A teacher awarded this level of accreditation will have created outstanding flip charts for use in their classroom and will also have shared their flip charts and ideas with other teachers.
The single user fee for this course is $299. Volume discounts are also available.
LEADER LED COURSES
ActivInstruction — ActivClassroom Training Series
The Activclassroom Training series is made up of five training modules designed to be delivered over the course of a minimum of 12 hours (2 ½ hours per module)
Activstudio Foundations (Beginner): Participants in this one-day training will explore the basic tools and resources available within the Activstudio software. They will also learn how these tools can be utilized to create interactive lessons. They will investigate the features of the Resource Library, including Backgrounds, Grids, Sounds, and Images. Participants will gain an understanding of how to manipulate these items from the Resource Library once placed on a Flipchart page. Techniques for focusing student attention will be explored as teachers learn how to design and construct lessons during hands-on creation time. Participants will also discover the vast amount of resources created by teachers globally on Promethean Planet.
The cost of this course is $2000 for up to 12 participants. An additional charge of $100 will be added for each additional person up to a maximum of 15 participants per course. The priced includes the Activclassroom Training Series Manual for each participant.
ActivStudio Classroom Integration (Intermediate): In this one-day course, participants will extend their skills beyond the basics and become more familiar with the capabilities of ActivStudio. Users will explore the following:

•Techniques for using existing teaching material with ActivStudio with minimal changes.

•Methods for transferring existing material easily onto a Flipchart page.

•Creation techniques, such as stacking, grouping, and locking objects.

•Incorporating multimedia and other resources into Flipcharts.

•Creating and using Page Notes with Flipcharts.

•Power Tools within curricular lessons.

•Various layers within flipcharts and the properties of each layer.
For optimal use of experience, this course should be scheduled 4 to 6 weeks after completion of Part 1.
